First Virtual Future Earth Summit

Representatives of the Future Earth Community came together in a virtual Summit on June 15-17, 2020. Designed by a Summit Planning Committee consisting of representatives from all Future Earth Segments and facilitated by Knowinnovation, the three-day Summit provided an opportunity for the broader Future Earth community to hear the latest updates from across Future Earth’s programs and projects, discuss key challenges and opportunities, and help shape Future Earth’s objectives and processes moving forward. The discussions were guided by Future Earth’s recent mid-term review, which spanned the first five operational years of Future Earth, as well as the Network Compass, an analytical tool developed by researchers at the University of Bern. In addition to showcasing the ambition, drive, and rich diversity of the global Future Earth community, the Summit highlighted the power of bottom-up, cross-network engagement and paved the way for other virtually-held gatherings in the future.
