Sustainability research needs well-qualified young scientists who are able to contribute to solutions for complex social challenges. For this reason, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary junior research groups in socio-ecological research. The current focus is on socio-ecological junior research groups for resilient and sustainable urban-rural regions.

With the newly published funding guideline, the BMBF is calling on postdoctoral researchers to apply with their outline for the leadership of a social-ecological junior research group for resilient and sustainable urban-rural regions. Particularly in demand are leadership qualities, knowledge of inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation, the will to gain further scientific qualifications and at the same time to contribute to solving social challenges in an urban-regional context.

Funding is provided for five years.

The submission deadline for outlines is April 29, 2024 for a possible project start in April of the following year.
