FE Tipping Elements Discussion Series: Human and Earth systems interlinkages
Discussion series from 1 September 2021 - 31 December 2022

Human and Earth systems interlinkages
Take part in the new scientific discussion about looming abrupt changes in the Earth system. This new webinar series invites scientists interested in tipping elements and the broader public to attend.
This series of online discussions convened by AIMES, Future Earth, Earth Commission and WCRP aims to advance the knowledge about tipping elements, irreversibility, and abrupt changes in the Earth system. It supports efforts to increase consistency in treatment of tipping elements in the scientific community, develop a research agenda, and design joint experiments and ideas for a Tipping Element Model Intercomparison Project (TipMip).
The 60-90 min events are held monthly and feature presentations from scientists working on the frontiers of earth systems research.
Whilst previous events have focused on the Earth system alone, this webinar with world-leading researchers will explore the interlinkages between tipping elements in Earth and human systems. Speakers will present historic and contemporary examples of how Earth system tipping elements affect societies and the people within them.
When an event has passed, you can access recordings and materials on the discussion series website.
